Norwegians to invest LTL 35 million in Klaipėda Free Economic Zone

Norwegian concern Hugaas Gruppen will invest LTL 35 million in Klaipėda Free Economic Zone. The design of a production building in which metal structures will be produced and processed is already underway. The plans are to start operations in 2015. The Norwegians plan to hire 120 qualified metal processing specialists in Klaipėda.

Hugaas Gruppen is currently expanding its activities in Gargždai. The company specialises in the production of complex metal structures and mechanical processing of metal structures. The company manufactures structures and constructs industrial, logistics, agricultural, sports, and renewable energy sites for its Norwegian customers.

“We receive orders from Scandinavia on a regular basis and have therefore decided to invest in our own factory”, said Roar Aarhaug, Chairman of the Board of Hugaas Gruppen. “Klaipėda Free Economic Zone is an excellent option, due to its convenient geographical location, favourable business conditions, and availability of qualified workers in Klaipėda”.

Hugaas Gruppen plans to install advanced production equipment in the new facilities. Recently, the company started working according to ISO 9001.

“This is not the first production company from Scandinavia that has discovered the advantages and service quality of the free economic zone”, said Eimantas Kiudulas, Director of Klaipėda Free Economic Zone Managing Company.

“Klaipėda Free Economic Zone expects to attract several new investment projects in the near future. The projects are implemented by engineering and electronics companies that would like to avail themselves of the Klaipėda seaport, airport, and land logistics opportunities to supply products to EU markets and look for customers in the CIS”, Mr Kiudulas said.
